French Lunch Box, Black and White Speckled Graniteware, Enamel, Vintage Description: You are bidding on a French Lunch Box, Black and White Speckled Graniteware, Enamel, Vintage. These types of lunchboxes or gamelles (containers used to carry food) originally found in villages across the French countryside were mainly used by workers in the coal mines or factories during the industrial period of the the early 1900's. Factories in France once had large vats of hot water into which workers put these lunch pails to warm their food. Condition: There is some rust and wear (best detail seen in pic), the rubber seal has hardened and the Lunch Box is in well used estate condition.
